You are on a very cool serious secret mission to retrieve the legendary artifact that is the Spikyball, from the bad guys. The bad guys are not to be underestimated, for they possess highly dangerous equipment.

Your job is to go unnoticed, take the artifact, and get out of the place.

Good luck.

This is my fifth attempt at making a game for the fifth game jam I'm participating in, the Very Serious Juniper Dev Gamejam.

CONTROLS

Move: Arrow Keys

Jump: C

While aiming with the arrow keys, you can press X to throw your Spikyball. Upon reaching the max amount of Chain Segments or hitting an obstacle, it'll fall down after a little delay.

Throw Spikyball: X

If the Spikyball is out, you can Take it back if you're close enough to it, when pressing X.

Take Spikyball: X

Pressing D while the Spikyball is out, will release the chain, if it's not already.

Relinquish Chain: D

By pressing Z, you can Spike up your Spikyball, after which you can stick it to walls wowzers. I originally wanted to make some platforming stuff with that but I didn't have enough time for that sob

Also, while your Spikyball is Spiked up, it'll send the bad guys to Damnation upon hitting them. If it's not Spiked up, it'll just knock them back.

Spike Spikyball: Z

If you get randomly flinged into outer space for some reason, then you can always reload the screen with R.

Reload Screen: R

There are also controls that I didn't have time to make screens for explaining them, so they're not really needed anywhere in the game. You can still use them though :D

Shorten Chain: X

Lengthen Chain: S

Also, while the Spikyball is out, and you've relinquished the chain or it's fallen into the void, you can just throw a new one and the old one will go boom

KNOWN BUGS

You can get flinged into outer space by the chain if it lands in the wrong way. This is because I made it in probably the worst way possible.

The player only sends down a singular raycast down the middle of its sprite, and not down the edges. This cancels out the coyote time, and makes the jumps feel very weird. Somehow my smooth brain just didn't think about that, not even in the bug fixing period.

Art: me

Spaghetti Code: me

SFX: freesound.org

Background Ambience: Pixabay

Inspiration: Celeste, Silksong, and a bit of Deltarune

Though I wished to have added a bit more, such as a final boss, and definitely some more screens, I think I'm content with what it ended up being.

There were some distractions on the way, mainly Deltarune Chapter 5 and though my planning skills consist out of popsicle sticks held up by duct tape and prayers, I did eventually finish the game, to some measure, at least :]

Also, if you find any bugs, please let me know so I can fix them :>
